I enjoyed this peek inside the CIA’s coffee culture. Not surprising, but a glimpse inside a hidden and curious world. I wonder if there’s a classified counter-culture of coffee geeks with Aeropresses and grinders in there?
“Coffee culture is just huge in the military, and many in the CIA come from that culture ,” said Vince Houghton, an intelligence expert and curator at the International Spy Museum. “Urban myth says the CIA Starbucks is the busiest in the world, and to me that makes perfect sense. This is a population who have to be alert and spend hours poring through documents. If they miss a word, people can die.”

They would have to go through their entire supply of coffee, order new equipment, and provide professional training to each and every “barista” in order to make my drink right.
Or, just hire me to make my own coffee, whenever I want to and train the staff.

A very interesting post. It has me wondering about what goes on behind those doors.

Never knew the CIA has their own Starbucks (Stealthy Starbucks indeed, haha!). Wonder what the atmosphere is like in there with all the secrecy and paranoia…
